Late To The Party

Have you guys heard of Harry Potter? I think it is a relatively unknown series. You probably haven’t heard of it.

JK. Chill dude, geeze!

Okay, so I’m a little late to the party. But holy shit, these books are good. I mean great. Like, since it was just Thanksgiving, I can say that I am genuinely thankful for J.K. Rowling’s brain and that she discovered the power of her quill.

***Full disclosure: I am about 3/4 of the way through ‘Goblet of Fire‘ (book four). There may be spoilers. I don’t know yet. I’m not done writing this post. Ha!

It’s difficult to put into words how remarkable these books are. They have so many layers. So many plots. So many relationships. And they are all meaningful. I mean from the very start, the reader knows EXACTLY the hardships that Harry endured as a youngster living with the dreaded Dursleys. You feel for the boy immediately.

I look up to Dumbledore like a mentor and feel calmed when he is present in the book. I get amped up for Harry’s trip to platform 9-3/4, so I can live vicariously through his friendship with Ron and Hermione. I feel left-out when Harry isn’t allowed to go to Hogsmeade. And I know that I can trust Snape but it’s just so goddamn hard.

I’m gonna cut this post short to go read the rest of the book. It is 10:24pm and there is a great chance that I will still be reading at 1:24am.
